Cubes of dehydrated food for astronauts

Conquering space also meant conquering cravings! These freeze-dried cubes were intended as snacks for the astronauts of the 1969 Apollo 11 mission. Available in strawberry, chocolate, peanut and coconut flavours, they were made in the same presses as the stock cubes in popular use in American households. They were thus solid in both consistency and calories! Their edges were rounded to prevent crumbs from floating around the weightless cabin!

I want to see more objects of the museum’s collection.
